Banana Bread

Baking, Dessert, Favorite, From scratch

This moist banana bread is the best I've ever tasted. It's also very easy to make and you likely already have all the ingredients!

Ingredients

  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 2 medium bananas
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9×5 loaf pan.
  • In a small saucepan heat butter on medium low heat until it is brown and smells nutty. Remove from heat and add in the white and brown sugars. Mix well to combine.
  • In a large bowl, add bananas, eggs, vanilla, and sour cream. Use a potato masher to combine the ingredients until the mixture is mostly of even consistency.
  • In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
  • Add the butter and sugar mixture to the banana mixture and stir until it is all combined.
  • Slowly add the flour mixture in to the large bowl and mix well.
  • Fold in chopped walnuts or chocolate chips. (Optional)
  • Pour the mixture into the greased loaf pan and bake for 40-60 minutes. Start to check with a toothpick around the 40 minute mark and once it comes out clear, the bread is done. You could also check the center temperature with a thermometer – 205 degrees F means it is done.
